To protect your child effectively, their helmet must fit snugly and securely. A loose or wobbly helmet is not safe and won’t provide the protection it’s designed for. Follow this guide to ensure the Sparky helmet fits your child perfectly.
Why Proper Fit Matters
A helmet that moves around on your child’s head won't stay in place during impact. This compromises safety. The goal is a secure, comfortable fit that stays put while riding, skating, or scooting.
Step-by-Step: Adjusting the Helmet Fit
1. Start with the Fitting System Open
Place the helmet on your child’s head with the rear fitting system fully opened.
This makes it easier to get the helmet in place.
2. Use the Rear Adjustment Wheel
On the back of the helmet, you'll find a small dial (wheel).
Turn this wheel to tighten the fit around your child’s head.
Adjust it until the helmet feels snug but comfortable — not too tight, and definitely not loose.
Adjusting the Helmet’s Size Range
The fitting system has 3 positions, which allow the helmet to grow with your child:
| Position | Fit Description |
|---|---|
| 1 (Default) | Smallest setting |
| 2 | Medium |
| 3 | Largest setting |
How to Adjust the Fitting System Position:
Remove the two internal pads on each side of the helmet.
Locate the plastic fitting system behind the pads.
Pull firmly to unsnap the fitting system from its current position.
Push it into position 2 or 3 as needed.
Reattach the pads.
What Head Sizes Does the SPARKY Fit?
The helmet fits head circumferences from 49 cm to 53 cm.
Need a Smaller Fit?
If your child has a smaller head:
We offer optional thicker padding kits.
These pads make the inside of the helmet smaller and more snug, ideal for younger or petite children.
Final Fit Check
The helmet should sit level on the child’s head.
The front should rest just above the eyebrows.
Shake your child’s head gently — the helmet should not move.
