I just received my SPARKY Smart Helmet: what should I know and do first?

What is the SPARKY Smart Helmet?

Key features:

  • Tap-controlled RGB rear light with up to 30 hours of battery life

    • Kids can tap the helmet to change colors and effects

    • No phone or app is required for daily use

  • 360Β° visibility through the integrated light system

  • Safety ID (NFC + QR code) to store emergency contacts and medical information

  • Swappable silicone inserts that snap into the vents for personalization

  • Adjustable fit for head sizes 49–53 cm, allowing the helmet to grow with your child

  • Magnetic buckle and soft straps designed for small hands and no pinching

  • Lightweight design (approx. 320 g)

  • Water-resistant construction

  • Meets CPSC 1203 and EN-1078 safety standards

What SPARKY can β€” and can’t β€” do

SPARKY is designed for:
  • Kids ages 3–9

  • Biking, scootering, and everyday riding at safe speeds

  • Increasing visibility and encouraging helmet use

SPARKY is not designed for:
  • High-speed riding or motor vehicles

  • Crash detection or emergency alerts

  • Submersion in water

  • Use with harsh cleaners or chemicals

What comes with the SPARKY helmet?

  • SPARKY Smart Helmet & USB-C charging cable

What’s not included:

  • Silicone helmet inserts for customization

First steps after unboxing

1. Unpack and inspect

Ensure the helmet and USB-C charging cable are included and undamaged.

2. Charge SPARKY

  • Use the included USB-C cable

  • The rear light panel indicates charging status

⚠️ Important: Children should not wear the helmet while it is charging.

3. Adjust the fit

  • Use the rear dial to adjust for head sizes 49–53 cm

  • Secure the soft straps

  • Fasten the magnetic buckle

Check the fit regularly as children grow.

4. Teach tap controls

Show your child how to gently tap the helmet to:

  • Turn the rear light on or off

  • Cycle through colors and light effects

This makes SPARKY fun while reinforcing visibility habits.

5. Set up Safety ID

  • Scan the NFC chip inside the helmet

  • Enter emergency contact details and relevant medical information

This information can be accessed quickly in case of an emergency.

6. (Optional) Add silicone inserts

Let your child choose from fun designs (such as Dino, Lightning, or Spikes) and snap them into the helmet vents to personalize their SPARKY.

Cleaning & care

To keep SPARKY safe and comfortable:

  • Clean the shell with water or mild soap

  • Use a soft cloth

  • Removable pads can be hand-washed and air-dried

  • Store with the battery between 50–80%

  • Recharge every 2–3 months if not in use
