I just received my FARO MIPS Smart Helmet: what should I know and do first?

What is the FARO Smart Helmet?

The FARO Smart Helmet is a connected cycling helmet built for urban riders and commuters who prioritize visibility, comfort, and minimalist design. FARO integrates smart lighting directly into the helmet to help you be seen clearly by other road users.

Key features:

  • Integrated front and rear Smart Lights for increased visibility

  • Side visibility, making you noticeable from multiple angles

  • Available in FARO and FARO Mips versions

  • Compatible with the UNIT 1 Smart Light system and UNIT 1 Remote

Understanding these features will help you get the most out of FARO from day one.

What FARO can — and can’t — do

FARO is designed for:

  • Urban cycling and commuting

  • Daily rides and short to medium distances

  • Increasing rider visibility day and night (be seen, not for them to see)

FARO is not designed for:

  • Motor vehicles (motorcycles, scooters, mopeds)

  • High-speed or extreme sports

  • Submersion in water or pressure washing

  • Use with third-party accessories

What makes FARO a “smart” helmet?

FARO is considered “smart” because it integrates connected lighting technology into the helmet itself. When paired with the UNIT 1 app and accessories, FARO’s lights can be monitored, customized, and synchronized with other UNIT 1 products to enhance visibility and communication on the road.

FARO vs. FARO Mips: what’s the difference?

  • FARO: Standard certified helmet with integrated Smart Lights

  • FARO Mips: Includes the MIPS® protection system, designed to help reduce rotational forces during certain impacts

The outer shell design is the same for both versions — the difference is the added MIPS liner inside the FARO Mips model.
